The Third Chimpanzee

چکیده

The next time that you visit a zoo, make a point of walking past the ape cages. Imagine that the apes had lost most of their hair, and imagine a cage nearby holding some unfortunate people who had no clothes and couldn't speak but were otherwise normal. Now try guessing how similar those apes are to ourselves genetically. For instance, would you guess that a chimpanzee shares 10, 50 or 99 per cent of its genes with humans?

Chimpanzee Fetal Gy and *y Globin Gene Nucleotide Sequences Provide Further Evidence of Gene Conversions in Hominine Evolution’

The fetal globin genes Gy and 9 from one chromosome of a chimpanzee (Pun troglodytes) were sequenced and found to be closely similar to the corresponding genes of man and the gorilla. These genes contain identical promoter and termination signals and have exons 1 and 2 separated by the conserved short intron 1 ( 122 bp) and exons 2 and 3 separated by the more rapidly evolving, larger intron 2 (...

Comparative genomics of human stem cell factor (SCF)

Stem cell factor (SCF) is a critical protein with key roles in the cell such as hematopoiesis, gametogenesis and melanogenesis. In the present study a comparative analysis on nucleotide sequences of SCF was performed in Humanoids using bioinformatics tools including NCBI-BLAST, MEGA6, and JBrowse. Our analysis of nucleotide sequences to find closely evolved organisms with high similarity by NCB...

A profound disparity revisited: Perception and judgment of abstract identity relations by chimpanzees, human infants, and monkeys.

We review the evidence for three important disparities involving the perception and judgment of identity relations by human and nonhuman primates. First, only humans beyond infancy and adult chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) with a history of language or token training can explicitly judge relations (same or different) between relations (identity and nonidentity) in a matching-to-sample (MTS) task....

Cues to personality and health in the facial appearance of chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes).

Humans (Homo sapiens) and chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) can extract socially-relevant information from the static, non-expressive faces of conspecifics. In humans, the face is a valid signal of both personality and health. Recent evidence shows that, like humans, chimpanzee faces also contain personality information, and that humans can accurately judge aspects of chimpanzee personality relatin...
